There definitely seems to be a problem with Sunbeam blankets.

I purchased mine (another model) a year ago, it worked that winter, and when I pulled it out this year it was just plain Dead.
Considering I spent a hundred dollars on it, and I really loved the blanket last winter, I was sorely disappointed by this event.

I emailed customer service three times and received three useless replies.

They wanted me to mail my King Sized, Dead blanket to Mississippi to be "Repaired"; shipping it at MY expense....can you say $45.00?
Now...I had a 50/50 chance of this blanket going in to be fixed (I am only in year two of my five year warranty)only to have it happen again after it was "fixed". If I had to send it again to be "fixed" to the tune of $45.00, I'd have nearly bought a new one. I really did not want this blanket back, it is obviously defective in some way, or just bad by design...of which, I do not know. Somehow this just didn't make sense to me and the odds felt very against my favor.

I truly had tried to get this blanket to work six times, as did my husband. I orginally bought it for him as we have sub-zero weather and it's nice when he gets off at 6 a.m. to crawl into a heated bed after he's half frozen. So you see, this was important to me to find a resolution to this problem. I even looked at other brands of blankets, but there are not many out there, it would seem Sunbeam has a cornered this market quite well, and what is out there, is three times as expensive. I...happen to think $100 for a blanket is exhorbitant, but with heat...well worth it. IF it works.

So I offered to spend ANOTHER $100 on a $200.00 Sunbeam blanket for a NEW one. And they said they didn't do Exchanges...apparently the extra $100 wasn't worth pleasing Me. Odd, I thought. So this time I emailed customer service and I asked to have my message forwarded to a Supervisor as the Customer Service responses were unacceptable at best. I informed them that I had posted EIGHT bad reviews on the internet and if they did not wish to accomodate me in some way, that I had all week to write Bad Reviews on their blankets. I also told them I was contacting Jarden, the parent company about this. One lovely Customer Service lady had the gall to tell me their products were excellent...really? Because MINE ISN'T and then I copied all the reviews from Amazon and sent them to her to prove that..no, they are NOT excellent! Here's your proof on 75 reviews! After that email, I looked up the President of Jarden and got his phone number, I was prepared to call him on Monday morning.

Believe me...in this age, reviews are important!! If you buy something...leave a review! Even if you aren't buying from Amazon, leave a review here! It makes a difference!!

Now for the good part...

DON'T ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER!! I'm glad I didn't!
While I was shopping on Saturday, a very nice lady from Sunbeam called me to say she was going to assist me with my problem.
I was shopping after Thanksgiving and was standing in Best Buy at the time, and she offered to call me Tuesday.
Today is Tuesday, and she did as promised, she called.
She had all my information and emails, she asked for some numbers off of my blanket, and promised to send me shipping tags to mail my blanket back to them at their cost!! Yay, finally someone helpful!!

AND she ordered me a new blanket!!!!
I could NOT BE MORE PLEASED at this point! And I'm praying my new blanket will not have any problems.
But very happy that Sunbeam addressed my problem and made me happy! Now THAT is Customer Service!!!

So...IF you have a problem with YOUR blanket, contact Sunbeam. Don't just eat the money you spent, your money is as good as mine is, and your product SHOULD WORK. I feel that Sunbeam did what was right by their product and as consumers we have a right to be happy with our purchases. A blanket with a five year warranty SHOULD WORK FOR FIVE YEARS right? If it doesn't, they need to honor our purchase with a product that will work.

Anyway...Happy with SUNBEAM!!!

Very plush, heats up quickly thanks to the preheat option (turns off in 30 minutes). Low setting is perfect for overnight if it is really cold. The only reason this blanket got 4 stars instead of 5 is because the Ivy color wasn't exactly as I was hoping - really more olive looking than the picture shows. Other than that a perfect blanket! And definitely worth the money.

After reading the other review, I was hesitant to buy this blanket - who wants to get something that won't work in a year? But I've been sick for 4 weeks, and for reasons I won't bore you with, my only option for consistent warmth in my room until I get better is an electric blanket. So I looked for all ones that might make it out to my house before the coming snow storm, and... jackpot!

I got the blue one pictured, and it was exactly the same color. In addition, this is the softest electric blanket I've ever had, and softest blanket in my room period. Since it got here, I haven't wanted to get out of my bed or leave my room for anything. I don't feel the wires through the blanket unless I press down. It's a plush and snuggly fabric.

Now, warmth was tricky, but once I got it to kick in, WOW. I'd left the blanket on pre-heat when it first came and went about my evening. There's nothing better than getting into an already-warm bed on a cold winter's night. The trouble was, when I first turned it up, number 4 on the dial seemed just as hot as 9.

Too lazy to get out of bed, I pulled my comforter off the chair by the bed and dozed off and turned the heat back down- when I woke up, I was sweating! For weeks my room has been 50 degrees, tops, unless I remember to leave the door open all day, even with the heat on full blast and the vents open - I think I need to weatherize when I get better. The point is, for me to be sweating in this bed was amazing.

My theory is that the blanket takes a bit longer than 10 minutes to warm up completely, at full size. But the wait seems to be worth it. I take one star off for it to take this long but other than that, I'm quite pleased with this blanket. I ended up throwing my comforter and the other blanket I was using off the bed and just relying on this one.

I bought this as a gift for a dear friend. She is always cold, and hates to be cold. She turns it on before getting into bed, all the way up, then when she gets into bed she turns it down pretty low and she stays snuggly all night long. Her miniature schnauzer also enjoys it!

This was a Christmas gift for my daughter since she has been complaining of being cold. She told me that she loved the mattress pad and it has been keeping her warm and toasty on cold winter nights.

works great. Very warm but doesn't burn in spots like my old one did. Easy to see the controls even in the dark. No brainer controls. Love it.

The good thing about having this heated mattress pad is that it also keeps the area at the head of the bed warm. While electic blankets only warm the covered parts of your body - the heated mattress pad allows your head to feel some warmth under the pillow. The heat is less intense at the head of the bed than it is toward the foot of the bed which makes it pleasant for sleeping.

we had a heated pad for years that finally played out. it was wonderful. wanting to spend less this time than i did for the first one, i bought this item. i wish i had never put it on the bed so i could have returned it. i was suspect when i opened it. poor quality material. poor bed fit. very very warm on the lowest setting. after 3 sleepless nights of feeling the wires, which are quite large, in my ribs--it had to come off. i had rather be cold and i hate being cold.

Bought the king size with dual controls. Works great and certainly holds down the heating cost by turning down the furnace thermostat at night.
