Happy with the experience. Blanket briefly back-ordered. Vendor communicated clearly, and then got new inventory promptly. Blanket delivered in a timely manner to 3rd party address as gift.
Gift for my son & his wife. They are very happy with the blanket. My wife and I have same blanket–now on 2nd year. Very happy.

We live in Connecticut (moved from Georgia) and this thing keeps us warm all night long. We don’t even want to get out of bed in the morning!
Heats evenly, and has several different heat settings (dual control, btw, which is HUGE. My girlfriend keeps her side really hot, and i keep it a little cooler than that). Takes about 5 minutes to reach the optimum temperature (try turning on the blanket before you get into bed. you’ll jump into a nice toasty bed, which is the best). You can definitely feel and see the wires in the blanket, but we haven’t had an issue with tears or rips or other safety issues.
We have had problems where the connectivity of the powercord and the blanket power inlet wasn’t the best. Took some wiggling of the powercord to finally establish a connection, but once established, the blanket worked well.
We haven’t tried washing this blanket yet (we’ve had it for about 6 months… it’s due!), and will adjust from 4 to 5 stars if the blanket survives a cleaning… this is where most blankets fail, btw.

I bought a Biddeford Electric Blanket in October of 2006. The controllers (queen size – came with 2 controllers) both quit working in December of 2008. When you consider that the electric blanket controllers don’t get used for half of the year, this is a terrible product! Their customer service is non-existent. You cannot talk to anyone on the phone or by email. Don’t bother buying one. Pay for customer service.

We were seeking to replace the latest in a long line of Sunbeam electric blankets that we were never really happy with. Much of the decision to buy this blanket was based on the great, thorough, well-explained review by Howard R. Hansen of the ‘100% Poly’ version of this blanket. (I recommend that anyone researching Electric Blankets read his review.)
I made the assumption that there was no difference between the 100% Acrylic and the 100% Poly (or those with some of each) — insofar as how they heated; the main difference was the fabric the blanket was made from. A phone call to Biddeford to ask about the differences between the various fabric blankets confirmed that they were functionally identical with respect to the heating. They explained that the Acrylic was softer than Poly, so the more Acrylic, the softer the blanket. Based on this I opted for the 100% Acrylic, the softest. It also has digital controls.
We’ve had the blanket for two nights now and are 100% satisfied with it. It feels warm to the touch when it’s on — a positive feature from our perspective. When I take a nap — when the house is cool — I turn the blanket on and lie on top of it. The Biddeford works great for this. It’s nice and toasty warm.
The first night I set the heat control at ‘5′ (out of ‘10′). It was too warm for me — and MUCH warmer than the old Sunbeam turned up to its highest setting. Last night I set it at ‘4′. Still a bit too warm — for Fall anyway. I’ll move it down notch by notch until I get to where it’s ‘just right’.
One thing that may be worth noting is that — unlike every other electric blanket we’ve ever owned — there are TWO plug connectors at the bottom of the blanket — one for each side of the Queen blanket. Other blankets we’ve had in the past have had only one in the middle.
The ONLY feature on the old Sunbeam that seems to be better is the way the plugs attach to the blanket. The Sunbeam connection had a positive snap latch; the Biddeford does not. I don’t know yet whether this will be a problem/issue or not, but the Sunbeam plug seems to be a better design.
I also don’t like that Biddeford doesn’t seem to have a way to register the warranty on line. That’s not customer-friendly.

The blanket is better than I expected for the price. A good deal that I would recommend to a friend.
